UsageTake 1 to 2 capsules daily at least half an hour before a meal. Do not take the capsules with food containing protein. NAC is most frequently used in doses of between 200 and 1200 mg, spread evenly throughout the day. Nausea and/or irritation of the stomach may occur if NAC is taken on an empty stomach. Taking NAC along with a light snack without protein (for instance, fruit) usually solves this problem.
